iReview: Photo Booth+

hola, people! remember us? we're still here! today i am going to review yet another photo app (because those are my favorites!) i downloaded photo booth+ ($1.99 made by vurb studio) on saturday night and i love it!

when you launch the app, tap on the clock in the left hand corner to set the timer speed.

i have mine set to 3 seconds because 5 was just too long. 

after you set timer, it instructs you to tap the screen to start. it will count down from 3 seconds, then take a picture. this process is repeated 3 more times until you have taken 4 pictures. 

the pictures are in color by default on this app but if you slide the circle down the blue bar, you can change it to black and white!

after you've decided whether you want color or black and white tab publish and it will bring up a list of options to chose from.

i always just publish mine to my camera roll and then i share them on facebook or twitter later, if i want to.

i think it's very easy to use and it creates a fun, new way to capture memories on your iphone.

iReview: Camera Bag

camera bag made by nevercenter ($1.99) is another app i've had since early on. my friend kerry discovered it and i couldn't wait to download it when i got my phone! this app lets you use a photo from your camera roll or take a new one and apply one of 11 different effects to it. once you have an effect you like, you can save it to your camera roll or email it to one of your contacts.

that is what you will see when you first open this app. then you will either tap the icon to load a photo from your camera roll or take a new one. i'm going to chose a picture from my camera roll and apply every effect to it, one at a time.

for this review, i have chosen the helga one to email to jenn. i simply tap the email icon and it brings this up:

if you're at all familiar with lomography and such photography techniques, then you'll get the that helga=holga, lolo=lomo, and colorcross=cross process.

there are a few things you can change in this app, such as the resolution the picture saves at, whether or not to crop, and whether or not to use borders. i have crop and borders on because i love the square pics and the ones with white borders! obviously, sometimes the crop doesn't work very well for a particular picture (like cinema in this example) but there's always something that does work!

i use this app ALL the time. it's hard to say which effect is my favorite but i think i use colorcross the most. i love to actually cross process film so i think that's why i like that particular effect so much. i would say that this app is definitely $2 well spent if you like to play around with your iphone photos like i do.

iReview: Toy Camera

one of the first apps i downloaded was toy camera made by takayuki fukatsu ($1.99). my friend bonnie has had it forever and i've always loved the pictures she shares from it. here's a brief "how to" for using the app. sorry my subject is so crappy, i'm blogging from my bed. haha!

launch that bad boy

take a picture

preview your picture and choose to either retake it or use it

then see what the app spits out for you

the picture is automatically saved to your camera roll

i personally have this app set on "random" to see what comes out of it. this is the list of effects used in random mode:

vintage green

vintage warm

vintage yellow

low saturation

high saturation

toning sepia

rich b&w

high contrast b&w

pros:

-you're constantly surprised by the app

cons:

-you can't use an existing picture from your camera roll

-if you have it on random, you obviously don't get to select which effect is applied

-if you don't have it on random, you have to change the effect before you take the picture

so, this app might not be for everyone. i love it though because i like the randomness. i also don't use it when i am in a hurry to get a shot because it might apply an effect that i don't care for for that particular image and i won't have time to try again.
